Meet Elis
I’m Elis, I’m a wedding and portrait photographer with a love for cinema and art history. That has been my full-time job for the last 12 years. However, in 2022, I started dabbling with Super 8 format and discovered a creative outlet that is an enormous source of joy for me. There's truly something exceptional about the way life is captured at 18 frames per second: an instantaneous dreamlike interpretation of a real moment.
I'm so happy to join the Coral Dove team as their Super 8 filmmaker! What a dream to work alongside Caitlin to document your day!
A bit about my love of traveling: Being on the road is one of my favorite things: seeing a new place flips on the creative switch in my brain. I'll never forget my first sunset in the South of France... the pink tones, the golden softness of the sun on limestone walls. Every time I travel, I'm surprised by the way the light looks. Have you ever seen the light in Greece? It's pale. Pastel-hued. The contrast from light to shadow diminished. I had never experienced that until setting foot on a Greek island. I long to experience that over and over again. I'm originally from São Paulo in Brazil, a place where the sun is always beaming down from up above. Sunsets and sunrises are short. Not without beauty, but fleeting... like you just can't hold them in your eyes for long enough. Maybe that's why these subtle changes in light hit me so profoundly.
There are so many places I've been lucky enough to visit and get to capture as a photographer and there are even more places I hope to one day get to discover.
Paradoxically, returning home is such a thrill, opening the door, seeing my dog's grin, and getting to hug Rod, my husband. Our own couch. Our own coffeemaker. The cicadas outside. That's bliss!
